If someone donates blood, and they have a viral STD..??
Question:
Answers:
Okay I'm sorry but these two girls before me that say people with STDS can not donate blood are just wrong! They won't take people with HIV/AIDS, but other STDS are fine, as long as it falls in the requirements.
According to the Red Cross, "Chlamydia, venereal warts (human papilloma virus), or genital herpes are not a cause for deferral if you are feeling healthy and well and meet all other eligibility requirements."
It's true herpes is a virus, but you don't get it through blood. You get it through direct skin to skin contact and sex and some others like childbirth. So if you get blood transfusion with someone who has herpes, you will not get it. I really doubt the Red Cross would let someone with herpes donate if there was a chance another person could get it.
Other Answers:
They wont be able to donate blood, the blood donation places have to screen all of the blood before they can use it. If someone has an std or other disease they wont use the blood.
the person would not be able to donate blood as there is screening for it and any sufferers will not be able to donate yes u can donate blood it has to be a year after u found out and not during an outbreak.
