Can You catch the chickenpox twice?
Question:
Answers:
It is fairly rare to get the chickenpox multiple times, but it is possible for people with irregular immune systems. As the disease is more severe if contracted by an adult, parents have been known to ensure their children become infected before adulthood.

Normally when you have chickenpox you develop an antibody which prevents you fron catching it again. However there are exceptions, my mother had it three times and it almost killed her. Having had chickenpox does not make you immune to shingles, which is a more severe form of the illness that adults can get. Alcoholics, diabetics and other immuno compromised people get it for a second time.
Yes, but the second time it is called the 'Shingles' and it hurts like helll
Yes, if you are not vaccinated properly against it. Normally, the patients are given medicines and vaccinations against this. So, once the body has proper immune system working upon getting the vaccination, it is unlikely that you will catch it twice.
yes it does happen usually if you didnt get it real good the first time or your immune system breaks down Yes if the first time you did'nt fully break out
I've heard if you don't get it bad the first time, you can get it a second time.
YES U CAN, MY DAUGHTER HAD THEM 2 TIMES..THE FIRST TIME SHE HAD THEM WAS A VERY MILD CASE OF THEM.AND THEN SHE GOT THEM AGAIN ABOUT 6 MONTHS LATER AND IT WAS A FULL OUTBREAK.I THINK THE FIRST TIME WE CAUGHT IT JUST IN TIME, SO IT DIDNT SPREAD ALL OVER.

Yes. If your first catch was minor, and did not serve to fully develop the antibodies, then you can re-catch it.
My sister got it, but a mild case - when we were about 5 and 6 years old. I got it but good. I gave it back to her. They thought she had contracted the measles and was going to give me a shot. I was scared, but the doctor looked at her again and diagnosed chicken pox a second time.
I remember that, because of the trauma of the possible shot.
yes, a friend of mine caught it twice.
No, but later on in life you can get shingles. Shingles is the result of infection by the herpes zoster virus, the same virus that causes chickenpox. During an attack of chickenpox the virus may find it's way to the root of a nerve in the brain or spinal cord. It lies dormant there, often for many years, until it is reactivated.
