Does anyone have a idea of what this could be??

Question:
My friend got sick in march with bronchitis. She was treated for it. During this time she started having other health issues. She has swelling of her joints. Her hands, feet, and knees in particular. She has been to doctor after doctor. They know it isn't rhumatoid aurthoritis but they don't know whats causing it. The meds they have perscribed isn't working for the swelling or the pain. She is in such agony and pain. Has anyone expirenced this or do they know of anything the doctors can be overlooking?

Answers:
I agree with Gatemedic. If she has several joints that are both painful and swollen, it is certainly possible that she has a rheumatic or connective tissue disorder. With these symptoms and signs, I would say she has 'earned' a consultation with a rheumatologist or internist with an interest in rheumatic disorders..

Other Answers:
congestive heart failure maybe.
Your friend needs to see a rhuematologist or a another specialist. She could have an auto immune disorder such as Lupus.
Your friend needs to see a rheumatologist to rule out an autioimmune disorder. (this can include many other diseases other than rheumatoid arthritis). She should also be checked for hepatitis... it can oftentimes mimic rheumatoid arthritis.
