Any home cures for poison ivy rash?

Question:
I have poison ivy on my wrist..itchy! Any home remedies to help cure, ease the itch and redness. Please help!

Answers:
Like the other's say, you can try calamine lotion.make sure you shake very well before applying.antihistamines should work too. Even a benedryl cream (antihistamine cream) should help relieve some of the itching. You're just having an allergic reaction to the sap of the leaves of the plant..and this is normal. If it bothers you at night..bandage your wrist so you don't scratch while you sleep, and either take tylenol PM or benedryl.this also should help you sleep. You can also get the generic kind..which is dyphenhydramine (benedryl) and acetaminophen(tylenol).the. sell that at Wal-Mart under the Equate brand name..and it's alot cheaper than buying Tylenol PM. Best of luck to you..

Other Answers:
Get calamine with antihistamine. Don't scratch no matter what.

Take an antihistomy or put some calomine lotion on it. try oatmeal its suppose to be soothing to the skin

go get calamine lotion any drug store it is the only way i know and we have lots of poision ivy here.

Not so much but the pink Camile lotion is good and Bert's bees makes an awesome soap for it.

Most home remedies only work temporary and only sometimes.
Go to a licensed physician and get the steroid injection that prevents the rash from infesting your skin. I take steroid injections for chronic arthritis and one of the plus factors is no more skin rash from handling poison plants.

Try Jewelweed.see link below

Benadryl Gel. Wash the area really well with soap and cool water. Dry thoroughly and apply the gel. Repeat this every 4-6 hours for about a week and it should go away.
