Sorry to hear you have, or know someone that has, cancer. How many times its needed depends on several factors. What type of cancer, how far it's progressed, and how you, and the cancer responds to the chemo. Some only get chemo a few times, but others go through it for weeks. No one can really tell you.

It depends on type of cancer and how the tests come out in between chemo. I have one friend who has had a lot of treatments with little to no success yet a family member had 6 treatments-he's in his 70's and had skin cancer-over a six month period and he's been cancer free for 6 months. You should ask an Oncologist. Best to you.

I don't think it has anything to do with chemo. Remission just seems to happen for some people and not others.

That varies greatly from person to person and cancer to cancer.

The oncologist will decide how may cycles of chemotherapy you need. After that, he will monitor you closely for 5 years.
