It sounds like a heart disease. The word Pulmondlis sounds a lot like a pulmonary heart failure.
It's listed as phthisis pulmonalis, which is tuberculosis of the lungs (also previously called "consumption").
It is associated with coal miners. Check out this website: http://www.emedicine.com/med/topic398.htm

In a general sense, progressive emaciation. It is usually, however, restricted to phthisis pulmonalis. [Dunglison1874]

I think you mean phthisis pulmonalis which is another name for Tuberculosis (TB).
Here are some other "old" names for TB:
Consumption
Wasting disease
White plague
Scrofula
King's evil
I'm pretty sure Phthisis Pulmonalis is pulmanary tuberculosis, a disease that was a common killer before the vacination was discovered in the early 1900s
I'm sorry i couldnt of given you better news
Good luck with the rest of your family tree
I am doing a family tree what site are you using please. I have got so far free but now they want a supsciption to get any more info. Thanks
Well, I knew that the Pulmondlis must have been to do with the lungs, so I checked on the search engine and came up with nothing - then I checked other peoples answers and was educated - sound like it must be TB to me!
