Question:
as well except that most of my joints crackle and make noise when I move. I am in constant pain and seem to be getting worse. I am extremely fatigued all day but have trouble sleeping at night and have bad repeating dreams that I can never remember. I am so tired of this that I am ready to anything to feel better and have even contemplated suicide just to make the pain go away. please help?

Answers:
The first thing you need to do is go to the doctors. MS rarely causes pain and doesn't affect the joints. MS is a neurological problem where the immune system attacks the mylene sheath surrounding and protecting the nerves in the brain and spinal cord. Fibro affects the muscles and tendons of the whole body, it cause all over body aches pain and stiffness. People with fibro have sleep problems( they don't' get into the deep REM sleep, tend to be light sleepers) this does not allow the body to repair itself and causes extreme fatigue. There are many diseases that mimic fibro and only your doctor can rule out other causes. There is no test for fibro. Start with your primary care doctor and then you may be sent to see a rhumatologist. There are good medications for fibro its a combination of anti depressants, anti anxiety, pain meds and muscle relaxers. Don't wait any make an appointment today. I know the pain of fibro I am disabled from it and have also felt suicidal because of the pain. Please call your doctor NOW. Good luck :)

GO TO THE DOCTORS A NEUROLOGIST
only testing by your doctor can differentiate between the two diagnosis, although some doctors do not consider fibromyalgia to be a true disorder. It has gained more credible attention in past few years.
MS symptoms also include numbness in the extremeties.... There is no cut and dry test for an MS diagnosis.. first they will do a dr visit, eval your symptoms, then you go for a Cat or an MRI.. if it shows white spots on the brain you will be sent for more testing... 1 of which is a spinal tap... Definatly go to the dr and make a list of your symptoms before you go... It will make it easier on you and get you a diagnosis quicker...
I guess you've seen a doctor? Anyway they seldom help. I had a mysterious generalized pain and stiffness with fever that lasted for a few years. Finally what I did to help myself was start eating a vegan diet (at first) while taking a low dose of steroid and walking for exercise every day. I lost weight and the pain became minimal. After I started feeling better I gradually reincorporated some dairy and eggs into the diet and stopped taking the steroid. And now I'm fine. It took about a year to get straightened out.
GET A COMPLETE BLOOD WORKUP, AS THEN THE DR CAN TELL IF THERE IS ANYTHING AUTOIMMUNE GOING ON, ASK FOR A MRI WITH CONTRAST, AND IF EVERYTHING COMES OUT NEGATIVE, YOU CAN ASK FOR A SPINAL, SO THAT THE FLUID CAN BE TESTED. GOOD LUCK.
Please see the webpages for more details on Fibromyalgia and Multiple sclerosis.
Fibromyalgia- It is a collection of symptoms, rather than a specific disease. Multiple sclerosis- a disease affecting the nerve system.
For more details, consult your doctor.
