They can power through a smoky room, remove odor and the there is also types that remove bacteria. I have two Ionic Breeze purifiers for my room. I love them. They are quiet and give you a better nights sleep.

well being an asmatic i have one and they purify the air as like if u have an animal then the smell or the hair it purifies it cus i have a Black labrador and my doctor said the only way i could keep him and be healthy is to have one and i asked why and he said cus dog and cat hair isnt good for asthmatics and the bad thing thats in their hair the air purifier takes it out and it helps my asthma alot and im glad i have one do u or someone close to u have a disease like that and has an air purifier??
They are the best. however, u must get the air purifier that nutrualizes all the bad bacteria and such.,,, like the Ionic Breeze or Living Air. they make the air smell like when you have a thunderstorm and when it's over it smells real clean.

You must make sure that it does nuturalize the air..
DON'T get one with a filter === u want one that DOES NOT have a filter..
They have some good ones at Radio Shack.. Remember -- NO FILTERS..
