my mother in law has lou gherigs, no family dr, only goes to neurologist?

Question:
In Baltimore, she is old, stubborn, and well aware of everything going on, she needs physical therapy, and a scooter to get around, I believe, she keeps falling, and won't listen to anyone, not sure where to go or what to do next?

Answers:
ALS is the worst disease imaginable, in my opinion. I lost a professor to it recently (she was only able to teach for a week that last semester- but she used her remaining time to the absolute best of her ability).
I haven't read "Tuesdays With Morrie" which is also about a person with ALS, but I can highly recommend "I Remember Running" by Darcy Wakefield. It is the autobiographical work of my one-time professor, and it is as moving as it is well written.
Some of her commentaries can be heard at NPR.org (or at MPBN.org).
Your mother may want to read her collection of essays or listen to some of her commentaries for inspiration.
Best of luck, and God Bless you and your family.

Other Answers:
Even though she has Lou Gherigs disease, it doesn't mean she can't make her own decisions on what she wan'ts to do with her life. If she doesn't want to do physical therapy. leave her be. It's her life and she will live it the way she sees fit. This is coming from another disabled person. Just let her enjoy what life she has the way she want's to live. It's not up to you what she does.
