Wow! I have never heard of such a thing. I would really really really recommend her seeing a doctor. It could be simply two different problems; Severe simus infection and gas/indigestion. I'm no doctor so I am sorry I cannot diagnose her for ya. Take her to a doctor, it could possibly be a serious condition. Good luck to you and tell your aunt I hope she finds out what this is and gets better!

Im saying she has a deviated septum in her nose.as far as the burping.umm too much gas!.see a dietician? im assuming she's overweight?
food allergies?
Do you think it could mental maybe? Like maybe initially it was gas and then she started anticipating it and fearing it, so that's why it's still present? Man, the mind can make the body do some crazy things. Maybe this will make me sound crazy, but when I was younger I choked on some chicken and after that I was sooo scared of choking, when I put food in my mouth, I physically could not swallow and so I would start choking again. That went on for a few days. Hope you get the answer you need!
I have no idea! But do you think it could be allergies? I've seen allergies constrict nose passages and throat before.maybe air is getting trapped?
maybe should check for allergies?
The only person who can give a diagnosis is a licensed physician, physician assistant or Nurse Practitioner who has examined your aunt and/or run diagnostic tests. No one here in Yahoo is qualified to diagnose her (especially online), so ignore any diagnoses you are offered. Your aunt is not obligated to see a health care provider unless she see this phenomenon as a problem. If she does, suggest that she seek professional help. If she is not disturbed by it, let it go.

I'm a nurse.
I have seen this type of thing before. it is a type of gas problem brought about by poor eating habits, such as not having hot meals at regular times daily, skipping meals etc. She must see a doctor to see how serious her condition has progressed and she must change her eating habits to include at least four hot meals daily. She must use enough 'ruffage' to ensure she has a bowel movement at least once per day and as often as possible use warm fluids, such as warm milk, cocoa, milo or if she prefer herbal ( bush) teas. After a while that constriction will ease as well as her breathing will improve.

Teacher Vee an elderly neighbour suffered the similiar sympthom and we used to do the same that u are currently doing until we were advised by her physician Dr George to change her eating habits in a similiar fashion to coincide with the medications he had prescribed for the gas.
I can only answer a part of your aunts problems because of what I have had. When my throat constricts, it is because I have been diagnosed with Panic/Anxiety disorder. It is real and not any fun! You can get that upset ( and/or excited) that this happens. Only people with this knows and understands this. I am on meds for this, but it still happens now and then. The other part which may or may not be a part of your question because nothing was mentioned about acid reflux, but I have a hard time burping also. I had acid reflux for years and never thought nothing of it, just popping tums all the time. Then my sister went to the Dr. for a pain she was having in her upper chest and the Dr. then did an upper scope on her and she had H-pylori and was put on a lot of anti-biotics. Now there is a blood test they can do also. (I did not have the chest pain!) But I ended up with cancer of the esophagus they call Barretts Esophagus. At the time I didn't know that was pre-cancer, but after quite a few scopes I was sent to a surgeon and I had to have 1 1/2 inches of my esophagus removed and also my LES (the flapper as my Dr. told me - this is suppose to keep acid from coming up, but I had it for too many years by then. I will be on medicine the rest of my life, But I had no idea acid reflux could do this kind of damage. I pray this is not it, but I felt I had to answer your questions just in case this was part of her problems due to the burping situation, although I don't burb 50 times! I Still have problems burping, and sometimes it is painful and whoever is around will have to "Burp" me like a child!! The nose passages getting constricted is a new one for me, so sorry can't answer anything about that except maybe sinus, but I would sure see her primary Dr. first so they she can be pointed in the right direction for the right Dr. like an Ear, Nose and Throat Dr. I hope she gets answers and soon. I think it is great that you are trying to help her - Good Luck and hope all turns out for her.
