I had cold-symptoms a week ago.. Now I have a really bad cough and an upset tummy. What could it be?

Question:
I had typical cold/allergy symptoms a week ago. Started feeling better for a day and then started with a horrible cough. Now I have a hacking cough, am fatiqued, and my tummy is oh so nasty feeling. Anyone have any idea what it could be?? I am scared to go to the doctor. Worried he'll tell me its nothing (I used to have a very mean doctor). So, do you know of anything going around that has symptoms like this? HELP!!

Answers:
Find a different Dr.!
You could always go to the ER. I found out that when you think and feel you get over a bad cold/allergy, you'll have other symptoms shortly after but a little different, less painful or more painful..Ive heard it's normal. It's just your body reacting and trying to fight off what you have. but Im not sure why other symptoms start up. Please get a NICE doctor. and for now, I suggest you go to your local hospital ER/Minor care facility. In most, maybe ALL US states, ER's don't charge any fee to be seen.

get feeling better!

Take care of that cold. It is lingering on. Plenty of rest and drink lots of fluids. See you mean doctor if you don't come around shortly.
Are you blowing your nose a lot, or coughing up phlegm? If so, you may have post nasal drip, which means the nasty stuff you're blowing out and coughing up is dripping into your stomach, filling it with gross boogery mucus. A sinus pill like Sudafed or Advil Cold and Sinus MIGHT do the trick. In the meantime, heavy meals will only make you feel more sick in the stomach. Whenever I had post nasal drip, I'd drink lots of tea with tons of lemon in it. It helped my stomach feel better. Get well soon!
Pertussis aka Whooping Cough is going around alot, I would suggest you ask to be tested it is a quick swab and than they give you antoibotics if you have it or as a precaution and after 5 days of treatment you are no longer considered contagious, Pertussis is very contagious and can be deadly to infants please get it checked out.
The Cdc also reccomends all adolscents and adults receive a Pertussis booster vaccine as well so I reccomend that for everyone.
I just read tha horrible coughing spells and shortness of breath bit as well I think chances are extremely high you have Whooping Cough aka Pertussis please demand to be tested for it and get antibotics, Pertussis starts with mild cold like syptoms..
