To be honest it could be from a variety of different types of arthritis. The best thing to try is Rest Ice Compression and Elevation. Water exercises is also good for arthritis because it isnt as demanding on the body. As for your hands it could be carpal tunnel syndrome, if they are weak, tingling, numbeness, and pain in the fingers or less commmonly in the palm of your hand. Carpal tunnel pain and numbenss gets worse when you grip something with your hand or try to flex it. The main symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis are pain, stiffness, and swelling in the joints of the hands, wrists, elbows, feet, ankles, knees, or neck. Rheumatoid arthritis usually affects both sides of the body at the same time. In rare but severe cases, rheumatoid arthritis may affect the eyes, lungs, heart, nerves, or blood vessels.
Symptoms of osteoarthritis most often develop gradually and include: Joint aching and soreness, especially with movement.
Pain after overuse or after long periods of inactivity.
Bony enlargements in the middle and end joints of the fingers (which may or may not be painful).
Joint swelling.
The best thing is to go to your doctor and have them evaluate you. They can give you better medications to control the pain and stiffness.

There may be some hormonal problems. Try the over the counter herbs for estrogen. I went through that went on Celebrex. It helped, but really didn't need to go there. Could have just done over the counter. You should get a check up, but it may just be a start of the change. Enjoy, it's liberating.
Go to a doctor! Seriously. Those symptoms could be caused by a number of things. If this all of a sudden came on then it's not arthritis. It sounds a lot like drining too much tea, Lyme Disease or Lupis. Go to your doctor immediatly, especially if you are in the woods a lot you could have been bitten by a tick that carried lyme disease. My uncle had similar symptoms and we couldn't figure out what it was. We thought he had lyme disease, but come to find out he was drinking entirely too much tea (we're talking gallons a day instead of water). So if you drink a lot of tea, you might want to cut back, if you don't then see your doctor.
first, go for a complete check up including blood work. if indeed this is arthritis, tylenol is of no use, ibuprofren (advil, motrin) is usually a better choice since it has anti inflammatory properties plus analgesics or painkiller. arthritis will usually respond well to this, if it is no the rheumatoid type,.. swelling painful joints can signify any number of conditions and to be on the safe side. see your doc.by the way..too much acetaminophen is bad for your liver.acetaminophen is an ingredient in tylenol.
I had problems with my joints hurting and swelling also. I could hardly move and was in bed by 8 every night. I thought it might be rheumatoid arthritis, since I had all the symptoms. I also thought it might be carpel tunnel in my wrists. I finally went to the doctor, he did blood tests, and it turned out to be gout. Gout is predominately found in men (I am female), but my mother also had it at my age. He put me on the right medication, and I now feel like a new person. Hope this helps you. Get a blood test.
