A doctor told me that my 6 years old daughter has one kidney since birth. what will happen to her ?
Question:
Answers:
She should live pretty normally, really.
There ARE a few things she (and you) should know. Because she only has one kidney it would be devastating if it was damaged severely.
She should avoid:
- contact sports
- high risk sports/activities eg. sky diving, mountain climbing
If she insists on taking part in activities where there is the possibility of impact (skateboarding, snow skiing) she should investigate the possibility of purchasing some form of kidney protector (fancy padding, really) she can wear under her clothes.
Other than that, she should do all the things a normal girl should :)
She will lead a long healthy life if nothing happens to the one kidney.
