how can i tell if my ast and asl levels are elevated more than normal?
Question:
AST..33 (15-41) U/L
ALT..51 ( 17-63) U/L
What does that mean?
Answers:
It is normal.
The normal range of AST is between 15-41. Since you are at 33, it falls within the normal range (33 is between 15 and 41) and therefore you have normal AST. Same with ALT, 51 falls between 17 and 63 and it is normal. So based upon the reference range above, your liver enzymes are normal.
The reference range may be variable from one lab compared to another (different labs sometimes use different test and thus different normal values). So use the reference range that you have on your lab slip. In our lab the reference range is AST (0-30) and ALT (0-29).

Your doctor would be able to answer this, lbut you are within the normal ranges.
