Small dark freckle on left inside of mouth (inside of left cheek)?

Question:
I noticed the very recent appearance of an odd dark "freckle" blotch, about the circum. of a small pimple, on the left inside of my mouth (left cheek).

There is a little bit of soreness in this same area when I brush. I've looked at the dark blotch with a flashlight, and it just looks how a regular freckle might look on the surface of the skin.

My concern, though, is that I have somewhat fair skin and reside in Arizona, and have in the past spent several hours in the Sun (I rarely wear sunscreen).

Could this dark freckle possibly be melanoma, or just a benign freckle inside the mouth?

Answers:
maybe you just bit yourself and its blood

Other Answers:
Probably nothing but even if that's so ALWAYS talk to your PCP (primary care physician). If he laughs at your concern tell him I think he's a moron.
this may be a concern that u need to take up with your doctor you could be correct in saying melanoma especially since it has just recently been noticed and is sore if you have cancer in your family distant or otherwise please seek medical help they will do a bioptsy on it by removing a small piece of it without disterbing the inside of it...good luck
It sounds more like a blood blister to me. If it doesn't go away in a few days, get it checked out by a doctor.
You may have bit yourself in your sleep, if it doesn't go away in a few days see your dentist or doctor. Might be the start of infection.
