How long can it take for an STI or STD to produce symptoms or accurate test results?

The easy answer, as the others have said, is get a new girlfriend. Obviously, that's not always practical. The problem is this, when you go to an STD clinic, health department, or even the ER the more common STD's are easily picked up within1-4 weeks it depends on the disease. Gonorrhea and chlamydia are usually picked up in a week. These aren't the ones you care about though. You get a shot or take some pills and these go away. It's the life long illnesses you have to worry about such as HIV, hepatitis, genital warts, and herpes. HIV and hepatitis can be tested for, but aren't routinely (I'm an ER doc, believe me it's hard to get us to test) and herpes and genital warts you can't test unless you actually have the lesions or sores present. The problem is you can catch herpes and genital warts even when your partner has no sores or warts that you can see.
The world of STD's is very scary. I know your wanting a fail safe answer, but there just isn't one. I'm sorry. Even if you had her other partner tested you wouldn't be even 80% safe.
it depends on where you go get tested! i know when you go to planned parent hood they can tell you within a week or so? or maybe go to a clinic that has result ready within 30 or so mins... you should look around online or call a couple of clinics!!!!!!!!
