Has anyone ever heard of carbon monoxide deficiency?

Question:
Doctor just told me that this is what I suffer from. I still don't understand what the heck he is talking about! Can you please explain if you know? Even if you know what carbon monoxide is supposed to do in the body??

Answers:
I think you got your signals crossed. Carbon monoxide is a poisonous gas and you do NOT need it whatsoever. CO is the stuff that people die of when space heaters malfunction or when they commit suicide by sealing the garage and turning the car on.

So perhaps you should check with your doctor and find out the exact thing you have and have him explain it better to you.

There is a small amount of CO produced in the body and it is involved in blood physiology, so there is a very slight chance that he means this, but I would think that any blood problem would be due to some condition that fails to utilize the traces of CO properly, or that fails to operate such that CO is generated correctly....
Carbon monoxide can cause vitamin deficiency, specifically Vitamin B12. Carbon monoxide is a toxic gas. You are not supposed to have any in your body. Either he misspoke, or you misunderstood. Call him and ask him what he said. If he says carbon monoxide deficiency again - find a new doctor.
