does saline solution affect your ears?

Question: Every time I use my neti pot for my blocked nose, it seems to clogged up my ears temporarily. It does seem to unblock my nose temporily. I think H20 got into my eustachian tubes because I had to wake up in the middle of the night because my ears were hurting so badly...
And i have some hearing loss after that day..
Oh and one thing i caught a cold a week ago...

While in general saline solution isn't a problem to your ears, if it's not sterile (and I'm assuming it's not if you're using it from a neti pot) it can breed bacteria and cause an infection if it sits in there.
