I wouldn't worry too much until you get your chest xrays done. You could be just a carrier of TB and not have the active disease. If your xray is negative you could be given meds to prevent the development of the disease in the future. Here's a link with all the answers you need:

Here is my reply:
I had a rare form of TB when I was 3. It was the first case like that that the doctor had seen in over 25 years. If afflicted my lymph nodes on the left side of my neck. I had surgery to remove the affected tissue. For the next year I had to take 2 differnt types of meds and have chest xrays every 2mths. I am now 32 and still test positive although it is no longer active. I would get your family tested also. I had my 4 sons tested at the age of 9mths due to my being a carrier. Even if you do have it the prognosis is good as long as you do what the doctor prescribes for you.
Symptoms may improve in 2 to 3 weeks, with improvement seen in the chest X-ray lagging behind clinical improvement. Prognosis is excellent if pulmonary TB is diagnosed early and treatment is begun.

You will always test positive, even on a chest x-ray, but there is no need to worry.

I wouldn't worry
Hello.
Im sorry that you have gone through the agony of having a positive PPD or (TB skin test). I and many of my co workers have experienced this as well. (Im a Registered Nurse). A + TB skin test..is really not a big deal in most cases. What that really means is that, (1) You were exposed to TB at some point in your life-mainly recently. But the thing about it is.we are exposed to millions of bugs & germs on a daily basis and our immune system is able to fight them off before they become a disease or disorder. When you have a positive TB skin test.most likely you will get a Chest Xray and this allows the MD to determine whether you are actually infected w/ TB. If the XRAY is negative you will NOT have to take any anti TB medications..(unless your MD is super cautious and paranoid).which means you probably WONT take any medications if your TB skin test is negative.
I am confident that you probably are not infected with the TB virus. However, if you are..TB has so many treatments these days.its really easy to contain & eradicate.
Good luck with your results.
Are you from Europe? I'm from England and as a child i was vaccinated against TB so what they do is inject live TB into your system and when you get tested you will show positive, but chest xray will be negative.. find out if you were vaccinated as a child. then you can tell the doctor and they will do a chest xray not the skin test! look at the alternative on my page.
