My father in law's lips used to turn purple every time he ate corn on the cob. He said he was allergic to the cob. He could eat canned corn with no reaction.
My son had blue lips after swimming in a chlorinated pool, I'm guessing it was the chlorine.
I don't know for sure but I believe an infection of the lungs called edema and causes your lips to change colors.
