I want to know about colostomy and how people deal with it ? Are the accessories available in India?

My father is underwent a colostomy . (if that is how u use that word) . I need to know how do you maintain your personal hygiene and how do you move in public .

my mom had that done to her also. they did the colostomy and the next day she was back to the way she did things before the procedure. you don't really have to change your way of life after the colostomy. its just like a "cleansing". but you can however eat healthier food choices.

For some people it's a surgery to remove the cancerous part.
Others may have a bag attached to use as a different way to move their bowels. This can be temporary and the bag removed.
If he keeps the bag area clean and changes it every 2-3 days that should be fine. Also, clean around it when he showers. When he goes out in public it's a good idea to locate the rest rooms first.

The medical center where his procedure was preformed should have all the resources available for him, supplies, teaching him and family proper techniques for personal care.
