For diabetic persons, how do you feel after eating loads of carbohydrates? Do you feel dizzy and lightheaded?
Question:
Answers:
Contrary to popular opinion, carbs are not poison to a diabetic. A diabetic can have the occasional small piece of cake if they plan for it ahead of time and take the appropriate amount of insulin. And the only difference between 28 carbs from an apple and 28 carbs from a candybar is about half an hour. They both raise the blood sugar the same, but the candybar will raise it faster. However, the question here is how one feels after eating loads of carbohydrates. The only time I eat loads of carbohydrates is when I'm experiencing a hypoglycemic episode, and the feeling I get if I've overcompensated and had too many carbs is of a car speeding along and then suddenly going in reverse. For a while I feel worse than the initial hypoglycemic episode and it's nooooo fun.
Many Blessings,
Lilyth

I'm not diabetic.. but you would feel this. Carbs are starch.your body converts starch to sugar .. sugar causes this reaction in Diabetics
No difference between an english muffin and a snickers bar. it's all poison to a diabetic.
I generally feel hungry. It's weird, I know, but eating carbs makes me hungrier than I was before I started eating.
If I eat to much carbs or sweets I get very tired a fast heartbeat and feel as if I can't move,I want to just sleep.. but the best thing is if you have to much you have to move and exercise to bring you sugar level back down. I only get lightheaded or dizzy if I am to low or feel low, depending on what my glucose tester shows if I am within range I eat protein for pick me up and if I am high sugar I exercise.
Carbohydrates will almost always affect your body just like eating sugar. You will probably have the same symptoms you would have if you ate loads of sugar and elevated your blood glucose to an unsafe level. I can't tell you exactly what your symptoms would be since most diabetics have a unique, individualized set of symptoms but I can give you some basics:
Signs of elevated blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia):
** Extreme thirst
** Frequent urination
** Shakes
** Dizzy, lightheaded
** Fatigue / tired
** Increased heart rate
These are just a few signs you might have.
Personally, I am diabetic and carbs usually do make me feel a little lightheaded and very tired. like I've just eaten a lot of sugary stuff.
