What Effects Do Asthma Have On Families?
Question:
Answers:
I have 2 out of 3 of my kids that deal with asthma and allergies. Preventative medication does become an extra thing to deal with but becomes so normal after a while. We really struggled in the beginning especially with my daughter who was finally diagnoised at 8-She is so well maintained now. As is my son.
Yes we have to be aware of each of their triggers (which are different for both). It is just part of our life. We have only had one incident that scared me and that was 2 years ago when my son ended up in the hospital for a few days due to asthma attack. Otherwise we just stay on top of it-the kids both play sports and are active. As far as drama due to the disease-only when my son lies about taking his medication (he is 9-so that has to be monitored). Once again when you get a great dr. and the disease is maintained it is really not a big deal-I think we are pretty normal:)
I guess it depends on how bad it is. Mine is mild and has no effect on my family.
