I went to the docter and he told me I either have Poly cystic Overy Deisaes or Thyroid deiseas they have the same problems does any one know what they do when they do the poly cystic test

Answers:
Hi, Welcome to the world of PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovaries Syndrome). I am also diagnosed with PCOS. Even before testing, the doctor told me that I may have borderline PCOS. The symptoms were, facial hair, irregular periods, more than normal weight (which I work real hard to control as I want to have babies and also want to avoid any diseases) and enlarged ovaries.

Also, the bodies insuline system does not function as effeciently as it should. So it is best to avoid sugar and sugary starchy products.

For PCOS test they performed an Sonography on the belly area during my menstrual cycle. They also performed blood tests to check the various hormone levels (LH, FSH, DHEAS, testosterone, etc.). Based on the blood tests and the sonography results they come to the conclusions.

The doctors recommended me with Metformin 1500mg and regular exercise as I want to conceive. I read and researched a lot and found that maintaining a diet low on carbohydrates and high on proteins helps a lot to control weight without major health problems. Lots for green veges, legumes, beans, fish and chicken and very less of rice, flour and potatoes have helped me tremendously. (I do not follow any Atkins or South Beach diet, but I just use my common sense.)

Please google PCOS and you will find scores of helpful literature and forums. I hope this helps you.

There is nothing to worry, it is just something we have to live with but something we can control to greater extent. A change in life style and dietary style will help a lot.
They thought my daughter had that too, but its a misconeption on what it means. My daughter had numerous cysts on her ovaries, however, there are other symptoms that happen first, the cysts are secondary. The doctor did an ultrasound and some blood work and that was it. They said the symptoms for PCOD was weight gain, facial hair growth and secondary were the cysts. If you only have cysts and no weight gain or facial hair growth, then that is not your problem. But its usually just blood tests to confirm.
