what does an allergic reaction to codeine look like?

Question:
i have a very itchy rash all over my body. the doctor says its a reaction to codeine but i have been reading about the symptoms and they dont apply to me. If i could see a picture of an example it would give me a better idea. I cannot take any more of thios itching!

Answers:
I too am allergic to Codeine. It will cause you to itch intensely. I too break out in hives. Have you tried taking benadryl?? This is what I have had to take before.

Other Answers:
it's a pink rash under the skin. It's really itchy. Try bathing the itch in vinegar and water. It takes the itch away

The reactions to codeine 60mg prescribed for 1-4 times a day as needed that I STILL get from time to time starts out with: My face first starts to turn VERY noticeably pink, then it gradually goes downward, neck, chest, belly, and really the pink stops around lower belly, but my feet blow up and they turn all different colours of pink/pinkish-purple/ etc. Tell your doc. and if he has half a brain in his head, he will know that you are having a reaction that could be dangerous, and should switch you over to different medicine(s) that serve the same purpose as your current codeine! Good Luck-Also, if you tend to run LOW on your bp (blood pressure), then you REALLY, REALLY must inform your chemist, and/or prescribing doctor, for the other reaction of many can and has been for me, lowering of my blood pressure, drastically-leaving me way too light-headed for the liking, and sleepy constantly. Best if luck!
