I smoke fourty fags a day.If you were a doc would you refuse to treat me for cancer?
Question:
Answers:
Hell no! I would treat you because you are going to make me a fortune. You will spend endless days in my clinic getting chemotherapy and probably pay for my house, my car and my kids college education.
Dont be so stupid. If no one smoked, Oncologist and pulmonologist would go out of business. They like your business and expect you any day now. They are waiting and know you are out there.
PS: I am a cancer nurse.
Other Answers:
no, but i would go on about the benifits of not smoking
If I were a doctor I'd treat you for cancer. But as an insurance guy, I wouldn't insure you ....
That is a hard one. On one hand I would say yes, because you know how harmful smoking is and its kinda your own fault.
But then I know that smoking is an addiction, and perhaps you started before it was so widely know how addictive/dangerous ciggys are for you.
No... I smoke myself and we know the dangers so we shouldn't do it. Mind you if you were a mountain climber and you fell they wouldn't refuse to treat you.
Not at all but i would make you sit down and evaluate your life and what smoking does to you and others around you. Hopefully through education you would come to the decision to give up smoking of your own free will. I'd then introduce you to my friend "gym" - he's a great mate for helping you kick the habit and relieve stress.......
I know some doctors do because smoking decreases your white blood cell levels so if you got cancer you should be smart enough to quit 2 packs a day. What would be the point of treatment if you are continuing to expose yourself to cancer, doctor would think waste of his time when he could save someone who wants to live.
No, but I would lock you up for bad spelling!
No way. Smoking is an addiction as is drinking and taking drugs. Without help, it can be very difficult to give any of these things up, and so does that mean that we just give up on these people and let them die??
Addiction is an illness and people with addictions have as much a right to medical help as anyone else.
Also, the amount of tax you pay on cigarettes is loads, so that tax should be spent on any medical treatment required - in fact that seems quite fair to me.
What are you...a moron...Look smoking is a habit that's hard to break having smoked for 12 yrs I know but I did it in the end and I am so happy with my health now! 40 fags a day is 5 Min's off your life for each ciggy.
That's taking 3 hrs and 20 Min's off your life each day, and that's a fact!
You need to Quit or you'll be dead in a matter of years, Sure a Doc would treat you but it would be futile if you continued smoking, nobody wants to see someone kill themselves slowly and the worse effects from smoking is not only cancer but emphysema which is basically drowning to death in your own mucus.
You have one pair of lungs and they don't have a lifetime guarantee!
no and I would not ask you to quit
but I would probably bring attention to the fact that you are noit enjoyng your smoke
now that could be the sress factor that can lead to cancer ... your guilt so just pay attention ..when you light a *** .. just do only that ..enjoy it as if itr was the best treat you ever had .. if you do you'll smoke less enjoy the few, more .. live without guilt or cancer
yes,serves you right
I am sure that 30 years ago the number of cancer patients was a lot lower, although a lot more people smoked back then. I am by no way advertising smoking but I think a lot to do with today's cancer cases is the food we eat (full of cancer causing E numbers). Even if you are a healthy eater, do you think your fruit and veg come from organic soil that never ever saw pesticides and fungicides? I don't think so. You are eathing cancer causing chemicals too. Furthermore, pregnant women eat cancer causing foodstufss, that may not be a direct danger to them but definitely a major problem for the developing foetus. I think the number of cancers will keep on rising even if the number of smokers will keep on decreasing. Smoking is a BAD thing but I think there are equally important things the government should be focusing on, like outruling junkfood, or making them very very expensive like they do with cigarettes. The government should ban E numbers in food and junkfood.
As a doctor, which I am, no, i would NEVER refuse to treat anybody.
i would only treat you if you gave up.otherwise someone else who doesnt would deserve it more.
As a physician, no: I would not refuse to treat you. However, I would still encourage you to quick smoking. Also, your treatment options would be more limited if you persisted in smoking and if you had significant decrease in your lung function because of your smoking. Ethical and moral physicians are obliged to treat patients no matter the patient's poor choices. Nevertheless, as a society, we may need to restrict treatment for these "lifestyle" related diseases in the future in order to have a more balanced health care expenditure on a more national scale.
No i wouldn't they cant do that they could say quit or cut down but no one can tell you what to do
