1. The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center gives easily understandable explanations of lung cancer, such as in the following sentence:
"There are several forms of lung cancer. Some of these cancers originate in the cells of the lungs while others spread (metastasize) to the lung from different parts of the body. "

2. This booklet (in .pdf format) will give you information on the basics of lung cancer, detection tools and treatment options:

3. This informative overview by a pharmaceutical scientist gives you lots of helpful information on the disease, what causes it and prevention:

4. Finally, the nonprofit CancerCare has a bunch of easy-to-read fact sheets about coping with cancer and even has reference stuff for kids.

Stay away from medical books. Only doctors really understand them. You might try a very basic book or article written on a young teen's level and put some medical terms in it, with a lay person's understanding.
Hope you get an "A"!! www.wedmd.com
they have the most comprehensive explaination
Try:
www.cancer.org and use the "basics" section for lung cancer
