are there foods that can cause a reaction of red blotches all over the body, itching like cactus prickles?
Question:
Since that time, I have had regular recurrence. I still do not know whether it is chemical or food related. I have changed washing detergents, and am unable to isolate a particular food or food group as the cause. I have never previously had a food-related or any other form of allergic reaction. Neither am I a sensitive type of person prone to experience negarivy body reactions to stressful situations or environments. Typically, the rash lasts for several hours and covers all of my body. Not very nice in the delicate regions. ALL suggestions for Cause & Cure welcome. Itchy@Scratchy-in-One

You should get allergy tested.
It can be done in a day.

Many skin problems such as eczema arise because of allergies. Some other conditions such as allergic asthma and hay fever are also caused by allergies. To find out about your allergic reaction to a substance, your doctor may carry out a test on your skin. Lets find out more about this.
If you are taking some medicines that may interfere with allergic testing, your doctor may either not perform the test or wait for some days after you stop taking those medicines.
Similarly, your doctor may not perform the test if you have widespread eczema or other skin problem and wait till that settles. Your doctor may not test you for all the possible allergens. While testing, a scratch may be made in the skin and a droplet of the allergen may be put there to test. Or the allergen may be injected in the skin surface. The third method is patch testing in which patches of allergens are applied on your skin. Your doctor will watch for the reaction of the allergens with your skin. If test of any substance shows positive, you will be told that you are allergic to that substance. A patch is commonly left for two days, while in other tests, the reaction is observed after fifteen minutes.
Prepare a list of substances that you are allergic to and keep away from them. It is not necessary to carry out allergy test on everyone. Many of you may find out about your allergies when you observe your reactions after getting exposed to that substance.

You may have to keep a jopurnal to isolate it. Best solution is to see an allergist, referred to you by a dermatolgist. It could be anything.
Sounds like an allergy to me. You need to check with your doctor who will probably send you to an allergist for allergy testing. As long as you are not having respiratory problems/difficulty swallowing or breathing... you can just make an appointment with your doctor. If you have any wheezing/difficulty swallowing/difficulty breathing... get to an ER because when you have an allergic reaction... if it effects your respiratory status, you need epinephrine/benadryl/steroids IV pretty fast before you can't breath at all. Good luck.
