Ever had a brief episode of hyper sensitive skin?

Question:
This happens to me occassionaly. If ANYTHING at all touches me it is either painful or tickles to the point of being painful. Usually it happens when i am extra tired or physically exhausted. The best I was able to do on web research was that it is brief neuro sensory problem. I have mild Spinabifida Occulta with leg and joint complications, but I'm not sure this is related. Any insight would be appreciated.

Answers:
The symptoms you describe sound like neuropathy -- but there are several diseases that could cause this. It's hard to answer your question without knowing the location of your pain. Is it in your hands or feet? Diabetics often experience pain in these areas. Is it on your breast or back? These are typical areas of pain as a complication from previous cases of Shingles. Some might argue that the neuropathy is a result of being very tired - the body always functions "less than normal" under severe stress. With more information I may be able to be more specific. If the neuropathy is bothersome, you may respond to simple treated using an older class of antidepressant medications known as tricyclics. These medicines are well tolerated, prevent neuropathic pain (mostly for reasons unknown), aid in sleep, and are cheap! Talk with your doctor, obviously, to see if such treatment is warranted. Best of luck.

I had that once after I had a series of orgasms. But I'm don't think this is the same thing.
