I am 35 & I constantly have severly swollen ankles and feet. Diuretics don't work.?

Question:
Swelling started when I had hyperthyroidism that went undiagnosed for several years. My thyroid was ablated but my ankles never returned to normal.
Even at night, with my feet raised, the swelling subsides only slightly.

Answers:
It could be a problem with your sodium intake....try watching your sodium and see if your swelling doesn't go down. You're most likely retaining fluids and sodium causes that.

I think you may have restless leg syndrome.. Theres medical condition for that, as well as medication and treatments......but do not limit it to this, you could be pregnent, but im sure you would know, also you could have bloodclots or something. I would ask my doctor what is the proper diagnosis.
Have your glucose levels checked and see an endorcrinologist soon. Another suggestion , ask your physician about Iodine levels as well.
Care should be taken to protect the heart. Hyperthyroidism can cause cardiac complications that includes rapid heart rate, congestive heart failure, and atrial fibrillation.
Please take ECG and meet a Cardiologist.
I would advise a specialist. You have 2 take ur health seriously. Especially if u have children 2 put it off. I don't mean 2 b mean 2 u, but ur being selfish if u have children. u r very young and have years ahead of u. If u don't have children, do it for u r self. The net can give u all kinds of suggestions, but u have 2 do the leg work. I hope u get well.
Have you tried wearing compression stockings? Also known as "TED hose"? Not sure where you'd get them, but maybe try a medical supply store. They just compress your legs so that a build up of fluid is less likely to occur throughout the day.
