How long can meat stay frozen before it becomes dangerous to thaw & eat?

Question:
That is, how long can your generally freeze it and then use it without getting botulism or other poisonous agents?

Answers:
If it's really "Frozen", it won't get "poisonous agents". That only happens if it thaws. The problem with prolonged freezing is that it gets freezer burn and becomes unappetizing. But it's not "dangerous".
