Informtion on 3rd recurent of NPC?
Question:
Answers:
Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is a complex disease and the significance of recurrence depends upon what therapies have been employed, where (and this is very specific as certain tissue planes have greater importance) and what the functional status of the patient is.
Clearly, it is not good to have recurrence of this disease, however, in some cases, salvage surgery or radiation can be attempted. Some chemotherapy also exists, but this alone is not usually curative.
For the patient you are inquiring about, an individualized answer must come from the physicians and surgeons treating that patient because so many factors are involved. Even the country in which you live is important as not all therapies are available everywhere.
The important thing is to try and stay positive and for the patient to get the most QUALITY out of life.
Best of luck to you and yours.
