Allergies??

Question:
Okay, I have had a couple swollen glands, dizziness, a little nausea, fatigue, stuffy nose at certain times of the day, eyes swelling, scratchy throat off and on, and just generally not feeling well.

Doc said its allegies?? I dont know if I should get a second opinion or not. I was looking for advice on what i should try taking that would be effective until I go get all my tests done for allergies in a couple weeks. I am currently taking claiton, and I am not sure if I notice a difference or not.

Any advice?? Has anyone had the symptoms I describe?? Most worrisome for me are the sollen glands, and dizziness.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

I would say, the Dr. is right on the money. Some Dr's like to put you through a battery of tests involving alot of pricks and such to find out exactly what you are allergic to. If your allergies are severe enough, it may be helpful to have allergy shots once a month to build up your immune system. My sisters kids do that. They also have severe asthma. My daughter and I opted for this solution. If you don't have asthma, try Zyrtec if the Claritan isn't working for you. Or you can try Allegra - D, that's what I use. My daughter takes Singulair that helps her with her Athsma and Allergies and I'm thinking about changing to that as well. As far as the dizziness and swollen glands, I would say dizziness due to sinus congestion and possibly not enough oxygen to the brain (possible athsma if you are weezing at all) Try taking a deep breath and blowing out as long and hard as you can. Any squeeking is athsma. This is serious and you need to tell your Dr. Some Dr's are better at diagnosing athsma than others. Also, hot humid days are a big trigger, so if its not when you see the Dr., it may not be evident. Ok, for the swollen glands, that would be due to sinus congestion and drainage in the throat. Allegra - D does help with that. The D part is psuedaphed, which you can get over the counter, if you need a decongestant. Good luck and God Bless.

Clariton might not be the best medication for your body to manage your symtoms.

Try a few different types of over the counter Antihistamines and see if one of them works better for you.

If they don't go back to your doctor and ask for a prescription for Zyrtec or some other prescription strength antihistamine.

SOMETHING JUST DOESN'T SOUND RIGHT.I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF ALLERGIES GIVING SOMEONE ALL THIS PROBLEMS.I THINK IF I WERE I WOULD REALLY CONSIDER TO GET A SECOND OPINION.BEFORE YOU START ANT MEDS FROM THIS DOCTOR YOU ALREADY SAW..IT MAY BE ALOT MORE THAN THAT.IF YOU HAVE INSURANCE I MIGHT EVEN THINK OF GOING TO THE ER..BEFORE TO MUCH LONGER.THIS IS THE BEST ADVICE I CAN GIVE ON THIS FOR TONIGHT.I HOPE IT HELPS YOU OUT SOME... Did you ever suffer from this before? Do you have a fever? Allergies don't cause fevers. The main problem I see is the swollen glands. Get another opinion and some blood tests.

Go make an appointment with an allergist and find out for sure. Ask to be allergy tested, because the Claritin is not helping much.
Avoiding known allergens is always better than medicating for prolonged periods.

In the meantime, try Claritin-D instead. It sounds, from the nausea and stuffy nose, that you have sinus symptoms, so you need the decongestant.

I don't know about allergies making you dizzy or giving you nausea but for everything else - I have an awesome remedy that works - Apple Cider Vinegar - 2 tbls in 4 oz of water or apple juice - it tastes gross but really works - I used to take claritan, Singulair and other allergy medicine and it did nothing for me - I still suffered from the symptoms, but since doing hte apple cider vinegar twice a daym I have no symptoms at all. Look at www.earthclinic.com for more info on apple cider vinegar you better wait until you have allegy tests, allegy doctor will not test you if you are taking anti-histamines, better check with them, as far as allegies go, you need to get an IGE teat besides the skin prick tests, sounds like you may have a mold or other allergy that is not covered by normal testing, the IGE test is an anti-body test for specific anti-bodies ie. mold feathers and bird poop or bird droppings! cockroach poop.
