What is N.Cattarhalis(commensalis... - how do you treat it?

Question:
I have been having a bad cough and thick sputum, severe mucous nasal discharge. Now on cephalexin and benadryl. Slow improvement.

Answers:
this bacteria can cause all sorts of diseases, from gonorrhea to meningitis. it can also cause bronchitis, sinusitis, laryngitis, and other upper respiratory problems.

in your case, where you have a respiratory case of this bacteria, it can be treated with a variety of antibiotics. the bacteria itsself is what is known as a gram-negative bacteria, meaning that antiobiotics that kill gram negative bacterias are going to kill it. gram negative bacterias are typically resistant to penicillin or any antibiotic in the penicillin family (amoxicillin, augmentin, etc)...cephalexin is in a class of antibiotics called cephalosporins...and these can help to treat Cattarhalis. oftentimes, i see antibiotics such as cipro, erythromycin, and gentamicin treating this infection, so if the cephalexin isnt working for you you may want to ask yoru doctor about any of the above three antibiotics and see if those work for you. good luck!
