why the tiredness in type two diabeties?
Question:
Answers:
I've talked to a number of people with type two diabetes, fibromyalgia, and other energy-sapping conditions, and it seems that one culprit that sometimes escapes notice is
corn in any form, especially high fructose corn syrup
Look for it in breads, even 'healthy' whole wheat breads, added to pickles, and in prepared foods of all kinds. Other no-nos are high glycemics like white potatoes, white rice, and white wheat flour. Even small amounts of these things can result in hours of listlessness and poor concentration ability for those with unrecognized sensitivities.
If none of these is the culprit, I still say examine the diet carefully and make changes toward as healthy a diet as possible in an effort to work on the energy issue.

if DM is controlled, fatigue might be a side effect of her meds or from another illness. Should have CBC and thyroid checked if not already. Also, could have sleep disorder, i.e. sleep apnea -- have sleep study done, since poor quality of sleep can cause fatigue. Good luck.
I have type 2
The only way I found to start feeling good again was walking on the treadmill about 3--5 miles per day..
It really helped me feel 10 years younger..
I can do anything now,I stay up late, my eyes can see better..

Both type 1 & 2 suffer from this. It could be so many different things. She really needs a check up NOT just an appoinment but a real check up. I was send to a cancer doctor he found I needed Iron in an IV form. That really helped for a long time.
She also should be checking her blood sugars more offen, if she is checking it 9 times a day then start checking it 12 times, sometimes your BS will spike in the middle of the night with out you knowing it, then the tiredness will be the next day. So BS should be checked at 3am for a few nights.
Sometimes depression will cause this too, she needs to walk, no matter how tired she is.
Good Luck with your Mum. your on the right track with your care of her.
it is probably not under good control..if the sugar level is high then its a good bet that the insulin level is also high. they go together most of the time. high insulin levels makes one feel tired so exercise and eat even better than you do now to bring down the insulin level and tiredness may go away
