I suggest you consult a good Orthophedic Doctor who also performs surgery, some of them don't. Also consult a Neuro surgeon, that is there specialty. Have you had an MRI? If you don't I suggest you get one. I also have a back problem cause from a car accident. It's a tension in L4, L5 lower lumbar. The Neouro Surgeon suggested a surgery, he only give me 45% of getting well. I asked if he could guarantee at least 55%, he said no, so I decline. In 1998 I re-injure at work, the Doctor's diagnosed was bulging and herniated disc in L4, L5. Surgery was again suggested, however this Orthophedic Doctor does not perform surgeries, again I declined. So he send me to a Chiropractor my condition got worst. He also send me to a Pain Management and several theraphies not of them helped either. Several years ago I went to several Orthophedic and Neuro Physicians all of them have the same conclusion, my condition got worst and now inoperable. Now I have a Degenerated Disc Disease in L1, L2, L4 & L5 lower lumbar. Please find a good Physician and also do not let your employer get off the hooked. I am a kind of person who doesn't complain, now I am paying for it. I keep on working even when already ambulated and at times doing 3 person job. I got hurt again at work in 2001, after that my employer claimed that I am an accident prone. Since I am already ambulated 2 years prior and I am always in pain, and sometimes excruciating. I decided to apply for disability. The moment I submit it the released me, the reason unable to accomodate. I am ambulated for 2 years before I apply for disability and doing 3 persons work. My friend don't be like me. I am in pain everyday and sometimes excruciating. The pain is so bad sometimes I am thinking about taking the easy way out. I am now under a psychiatrist care, because of s depression related to this conditon. I did contemplate of killing myself that how bad the pain is. PLEASE, PLEASE get some help..Do not be like me.

There are procedures they can do. You need to see a doctor that deals only with spine injuries. It sounds like you might be close to ruptures and if that happens then you will more then likely end up having to have fusion done. My mother and brother have had the surgery.

Sounds right. I have the same thing from years of work and Arthritis. Thinking about doing myself in at some point when drugs quit working.Watch Chiros. Tried that and now can't walk right. I know how you feel. that stuff sucks!

ask you doctor about cortizone.

Good Luck The treatment modality of choice for this type of problem is Cox Distraction. It's a non-surgical technique mostly done by chiropractors and is specifically designed to treat disc problems, including disc protrusions with a sequestered fragment (which is what it sounds to me like you are talking about). Follow the link below to find a doctor in your area that is certified in this technique.

http://www.coxtechnic.com/referrals.asp Spines can be treated by both orthopedic and neurosurgeons. Try the other specialty if you've already seen one. (I personally would go with a neurosurgeon over an orthopedic surgeon for spine work). Avoid chiropractors.

There is a chance the particular surgeon you saw doesn't want to operate because of the workers comp issue (Payment may be slow and inadequate - don't know how it works in OK) Seek another opinion.

Good luck.
