Acne In Adults

Acne is normally considered a problem of teenagers. Most people believe that acne will clear forever after the teenage is past. That is not true. Acne can appear in adulthood also. Many adults, especially females suffer acne in adulthood.

The reasons of adult acne may include hormonal changes during pregnancy, menstruation, some drugs as anabolic steroids, etc. Some lithium containing drugs, few anti-tuberculosis drugs and some other drugs may also cause adulthood acne. You need to talk to your doctor about the association of any drug you may be taking and its acne causing potential.

Sometimes acne appears in people who had no acne during their adolescence and sometimes it recurs for no reason. Some other reasons of adulthood acne may be pressure on a particular place of the skin by some mechanical action. This is also called acne mechanica. Carrying a backpack that constantly irritates the skin is one such example. Look for such reasons if you get acne in adulthood. Some industrial chemicals can also cause acne. This is an occupational problem and is called chloracne. You may be confusing other conditions such as folliculitis, which is a disease of hair follicles, with acne. Adult acne is difficult to treat than adolescent acne and you should talk to your doctor rather than taking OTC medicine.

Go see a dermatologist is your best option
The only thing that ever cleared my ache was Mary Kay products. The derm may be able to give you some ideas.
Have you tried ProActive?
Have you ever been tested for allergies?
It could be something you are eating or using, clothing,
bedding,ect.
If you have only seen a family doctor about this, then I would see a dermatologist if I were you. I developed an allergic skin reaction in my late twenties, I saw two regular doctors, and paid them to tell me what they "thought" it was. In my early thirties I finally saw a dermatologist and she pinpointed the things that was causing the allergic reaction. If you find out for sure that it's acne, I would recommend ProActive. I'll soon turn thirty-three, and it works great for me.
I am a Mary Kay independent beauty consultant and I have an email from a mother of a young boy who had acne and tried the Mary Kay Velocity products after spending hundreds of $ on everything else (Proactiv and dermotologists). I would highly recommend giving it a shot. I added up all the products that you would need and it comes to $40 for cleanser , blemish control toner 3 (acne medication), acne treatment gel, and moisturizer. If you have any other ?'s you can email me.
if you have eczema - you'll need to slough off the dead skin, add moistures like cetaphil lotion and there are great topical creams a Dr. can prescribe you eczema. if its acne it's too moist and there is bacteria in the pores so you need to keep it clean and dry. Proactive works great I hear and so does light therapy. DERMATOLOGIST is your next stop.

II have broken out with eczema in my face since I was 15.It looks nothing like acne but is equally unattractive.
If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.
For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.

Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:
