Whislt I think it is useful in lots of cases it's not the be all and end all for a start people rarely remember what the difference between things are particulaly with the motor section people often getting 3-4 mixed up. It was designed by Teesdale et al for neurosurgical patients as a through assessment of concious level. In medical situations such in depth review is not required and in most circumstances AVPU (alert. verbal, pain unresponsive) is much quicker and equally discrimanatory
Yes - it is a good way to measure the conscious level of any patient.
