what is the solution to HIV pendamic in our society today?
Question:
Answers:
Answer to Question #1:
The solution is prevention of infection. Eduction about the disease, abstinence, use of condoms, widely available HIV testing.
Answer to Question #2:
HIV's affects in the body are very difficult to interrupt. HIV is a retrovirus, which means that it can insert its genetic material directly into our own. Even if we could give a medication which completely destroyed all virus in both the blood and even within the inter-cellular spaces the person would not be cured of the disease. This is because the virus could be resurrected by our own cellular machinery when it reads the virus code in our own DNA. Careful examination of the human genome reveals evidence of multiple retrovirus remnant that have crept into our genes over millenia, as well as the genomes of other species. Evidently retroviruses are well established and here to stay. Most HIV research is directed toward treatment of the disease as apposed to a cure because retroviruses are almost theoretically incurable.

The Catholic Church could make a big difference by letting condoms being used, (The third world still think it is a sin) In the Western World? for Pete's sake if you want sex with someone who you do not really know then use one. But the best way to avoid it is to use the best oral contraceptive ever. NO !!
Its not a question of science darling...
If people were to stop sharing needles and practised safe sex and more careful health practices there would be no more spread of this killer. Once a person has it thats it but if we can use preventative measures the percentage of carriers would remain the same but the risk of contamination would not be any higher
I also agree that the Catholic church should allow the use of condoms. Education of course helps. I still think there is too much ignorance or HIV/AIDS.
By educating our children
In areas where there is
(1) sane public education
(2) free, easy to get condoms and
(3) free needle exchange
the transmission of HIV drops dramatically.
They are trying to find a cure
Surely it is time we all took responsibility for our own part in the HIV situation?
Unlike many other diseases, it is possible to prevent the spread of HIV, and if people would just start practising safe sex instead of pretending "it wont happen to me" we'd all be better off, in western society at least. Yes, HIV can be spread in other ways but there are ways to prevent it.
A lot of time and money goes into researching the cure for HIV, which does not yet exist - in the meantime, maybe we should just all be taking a bit more care.
