Is there a generic for Plavix?

Question:
It is expensive and I wondered if there was a cheap generic.

Answers:
No, there isn't a generic form of Plavix (clopidrogel). But you doctor may be able to help you out with some free samples. if you ask. Most pharmaceutical companies have programs that can get you coupons or reduced prices on the drug. It is VERY important that you don't stop taking it without letting your doctor know.

Other Answers:
not yet..

Not yet, it has not been out long enough for the patent to wear out. GENERIC NAME: clopidogrel bisulfate. BRAND NAME: Plavix

Clopridogel.

There is not a generic for Plavix yet, BUT you should be asking your doctors office for their sample packs. Plavix reps. are very generous with them. The price of Plavix is sky high. I wonder if you really need that particulat anticoagulant. I was on it for a while, until I discovered there was no good reason for it. I know of no generic until the patent runs out.

my hubby had a stroke about 9 years ago, they put him on asprin,2600 milagrams a day, the maxium you can take without killing your self, he was on it for 5years, then the specialist put him on plavix for 4years, they just tokk him off, now its what they call ratpoison, where you go to the hospital for something like intervinice, its monitered for 8 hours, there is another medicaal name for the stuff just cant remember the right name, but for short form they call it rat poison, thats the last thing they can do for him
