-Will Type 1 just stay like that or will it eventully progress to a Type 2?

Answers:
Herpes simplex virus 1 (cold sores) can be transmitted to your genital area. This is usually caused by someone with cold sores giving you oral sex though. In fact 30% of people with genital herpes got it from cold sores.

It doesn't "progress" into herpes simplex virus 2 (genital herpes) though. You would have to have someone with cold sores give you oral sex, or have sex with someone who has genital herpes.

Other Answers:
Will not change to type 2. Type 1 could have been transferred to your genitals during oral sex or perhaps you have cold sore of the mouth and you transferred the virus with your hand.

Ditto. HSV1 and HSV2 are very similar. In the genital area, HSV1 tends to be much less severe though the symptoms are the same. With medications such as Valtrex, it really doesn't matter whether it's 1 or 2, they can both be completely controlled in most cases. Though you will always be contagious, outbreaks or not, it's very likely that you can live outbreak free.
