Does anyone know what could cause my wife to itch all over her torso? There isn't any rash or visable irritnt

Question:
She started having an itch a couple weeks ago on her lower torso and now she itches all over her torso and it seems to be spreading to her upper thighs and arms.

Answers:
Could be a number of things. Many viruses can cause this type of reaction but most likely its an allergic reaction to something in her environment. Have your recently purchased a new type of laundry detergent, body wash, or any other product that might come in contact with the skin? if so you could try switching and see if this helps. Has your wife bought any clothing lately and worn them without washing them first? Many people are sensitive to the dies and other chemicals that might be on new unlaundered garments especially blue jeans. Look at what you have consumed within the last week and see if their is anything out of the routine that she has eaten. all in all I would suggest having your family doctor check it out especially if she is pregnant or expecting.

Other Answers:
Be sure and check for very small red lines in under her skin. it could be scabies, remember if you have recently gotten a used bed or blankets and not washed them. Sometimes that will casue scabies to burrow. they are very little mites that burrow under you skin and cause severe itching and are very contagious. Also check to make sure she did not change her laundry soap or is using a new medication. Then take her to a dermatologist to get checked out. Benadryl will calm the itching if it gets bad. Hope it helps

The best thing to do would be to see a dematologist. It may be something serious or just dry skin. I know when the weather changes my skin is very sensitive and becomes dry and itchy. Tell her to try some lotion on it for a day or two and if it doesnt help then see a specialist!!
