What's this patch of "altered" skin by my knee?

Question:
It doesn't itch, it's not exzema. (sp?) The follicles are bumpy and when I drag my fingernail over normal skin then onto the patch, there is less feeling on the patch. It's not scaly, not discolored. It's been there awhile. Vit. A deficiency? Can't really see it visibly unless you look close and see the follicles.

Omigod..I just noticed that as I sit at my desk (it's a high chair) that's exactly where my knee hits the desk when my legs are crossed. Is that possible? Why would the follicles be like that?

Answers:
You are a very good observer. You noted the two key features which clinch the diagnosis: it occurs on an exposed area that makes contact, and that sensation is partly lost.

Of course, you're right, it's not eczema. It's not impetigo, and I hope it's not lues. Probably it is only a little infection by M. leprae, and it will go away in about a lifetime.

I hope you like tropical islands and solitude.

I can't really picture it out.. maybe just Seborrheic Keratosis or Folliculitis. Visit your dermatologist now..maybe you need some skin biopsy.
I will suggest a very simple method to restore old health. Numbness, lack of sensation etc occur due to a variety of reasons. Just apply a litle neem oil there and mild massage for 10 minutes. Twice a day, continue for 5 days. This is a wonderful remedy, especially since follicules are present.
