Ihave a small lump developed just over my anus.It is painless.Could it be harmful? What is your suggestion?

my uncle had this problem, it was a cyst that had to be removed.go to dr. it's probably harmless, and not cancer. however, still get it checked!!

Sounds like a pilonoidal (not sure about spelling) cyst, it usually exists in a dormant state until irritated by some trauma (like a falling or hitting the area on some hard surface). Basically the trauma causes an abscess which will need to be drained in a doctors office.

The abscess will get more painful over time and may cause infection that could lead to complications. But if you get to your doctor's office quickly you should be able to get diagnosed and take care of the problem fairly quickly.

it is probably a non cancer cstst. my hubby had one removed from his tail bone 20 yrs.ago hurt like hell.

Maybe it is a hemmorhoid?
