Can the medication, Keppra, used to treat epilepsy, now be tested and monitored by drawing a blood level?

Question:
When Keppra was approved to treat epilepsy and seizures, it was not able to be followed in the patients system by a blood level. I believe it was because of how it was metabolized. I was recently told that it was possible to follow a level for Keppra. Don't know if it's a blood level, a urine level, etc. Any help? My 13 yr old has cp (severe) and has been successfully treated (until recently) with Keppra. Thanks!

Answers:
I'm 36, and i'm in the same boat as your son. But YEARS ago when i was on keppra, my doctor tested it by blood. But if keepra got his seizures going again, he should go back to what he was on. Now i'm going into the Neuro Pace study at USC. I've been on every med on the market, and nothing has helped me.
you do not need to check the blood level of keppra.
its a safe drug & has a WIDE THERAPUTIC WINDOW
just let your kid use it & get the benefit.
