What is a panic attacks?I think i have them..?
Question:
Answers:
I get them once in awhile and for me, I get really short of breath and start to hyperventalate (spelling). I feel like the room is spinning sometimes and I get dizzy. Sometimes you can feel like everyone is staring at you. It is really hard to describe as each person has their own reactions. But that is pretty much the jist of it all.

I found this on wikipedia.com.
A panic attack is a period of intense fear or psychological distress, typically of abrupt onset and lasting no more than thirty minutes. Symptoms may include trembling, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, sweating, nausea, dizziness, hyperventilation, paresthesias (tingling sensations), and sensations of choking or smothering. Repeated and apparently unprovoked panic attacks may be a sign of panic disorder, but panic attacks are associated with other anxiety disorders as well. For example, people who suffer from phobias may experience panic attacks upon exposure to certain triggers.
I attached that link and another. Check it out. It might help!
Good luck.
It feels like you might be having a heart attack.everything speeds up like in fast motion and sounds (tv, radio, etc.) sound like they are very angry. That's what mine feel like anyway.
I have general anxiety disorder and have suffered from panic attacks for years. I get short of breath, dizzy, my hands tingle, I see spots..there are many symptoms. there are also many triggers. I can have a panic attack during a stressfull situation, or hours afterward. If you think you have panic attacks, try seeing a doctor. Mine were out of control until I was prescribed Xanax. It is the only thing that has stopped them.
(this is an opinion, not meant to diagnose or give medical advice.)
they are quick feelings of fear that you might say arose from nowhere. they are frightening. You're adrenaline rises and it's flight or fight.. It can be very debilitating if not controlled early on. Your heart beats rapid and you can't breathe and most of the time you feel the need to go to the hospital but they only last about 10 minutes and so there's real need.
Many people mistake that word.but really the correct word is that you have anxiety attacks and that can only be if you have anxiety disorder.but anyways A panic attack is where you feel that you can not breathe.you begin crying out and if you are under a lot of stress it will do that to you.So your best bet would be go see a doctor because you don't then it can lead to something even more dangerous.where you make yourself sick or you hyperventilate..Another thing is that you can take it as that you are having a heart attack because that is exactly what it feels like..so you might to get checked out so in case you do have a panic attack then you won't take it as a heart attack and the same way the other way around..

I have anxiety attacks (aka) panic attacks and I was told I had them by my family doctor and an ER doctor when I wound up in the ER becasue I thought something was seriously wrong.
Are you sure it's a panic attack and not an anxiety attack?
Panic attacks are characterized by the person feeling sudden, intense fear (severe anxiety), accompanied by physical symptoms of fear and stress - sweating, palpitations (feels like you're having a heart attack), numbness, dizziness or breathlessness.
If you're having episodes of extreme anxiety along with actual physical symptoms, then you're probably having a panic attack.
One more thing: Panic attacks are sometimes self perpetuated from anxiety attacks. Sort of "working yourself up" into panic.
In any case, you should see a doc.
I believe that you just have anxiety attacks,
My best friend has very severe panic attacks. And I've witnessed several of them occur.
Her most reccent panic attack was because she almost got into a car accident (she's 16, had her permit for 3 months). We went home and she started to hypervenalate, her asthma puffer didn't help at all and then she started to black out more and more frequently , she would dig her fingernails subconsciously into her palms and arms.
She spoke to her doctor on several occasions and he said that during the time her heart feels like its running a mile and the hardest and fastest pace it can handle.
Most of her panic attacts render her unable to speak because she's so short of breath during them so we decided to learn sign language so she could communicate with me during these attacks about if she needed water, if she wasn't getting enough air, ect.
Also, during her attacts she will loose the blood supply to her fingers and hands for some reason and they get so cold she could possibly get simulated frost bite!
If you believe that you are possibly haivng a panic attact call the ambulance immediately and always make sure someone is with you because if you get as bad as my friend does you could seriously injure yourself without meaning to.
A panic attack feels like your having a heartattack and when they get really bad they can make u pass out. My room mate has them and I think taht you should talk to your doctor about it and see if they are bad enough for medicine and if they are then the meds will help and you will be fine
