I am 58 male. I flunked stress test and had cardial cath which showed no problem. What's up with stress test?
Question:
Answers:
that the heart rate goes up fast exercise then at rest comes back quickly to normal is ok.
the important thing to look for (after you said the coronaries were ok) is systolic dysfunction,
that can be cleared by doing an exercise echocardiogram.
of course age has something to do with it too.
Other Answers:
a stress test shows the amount of endurance you can take through excersize, a cath shows blockages. so if you dont excersize. you heart doenst build endurance.. thats why you flunked the treadmill
Sounds as if your adrenal levels have something to do with it. The more adreneline that is released into your blood stream during excercise the faster your BP will go up. Have the doctor check your thyroid levels and do a tilt table test to check for "vasovagel syndrome" . Your heart is fine, but there is a reason for this happening. Your endocrinic system is working overtime to regulate itself, this will cause a false positive in your stress test.

I am 52 female, and not overweight (called middle age spread). The stress test, I have learned by experience that it is another test of torture that doctor's order.
I flunked the stress test, too. But, my doctor then ordered a test, which I forgot the name of it, but they shot die in my veins and found a clog. My heart was also normal on a EKG. The clog was not near my heart, but the other tests like the ones you had, everything was normal. Since, that has been repaired with balloon surgery (there is a big name for it, but can't spell it) and I have been passing their tests of torture.
I know this isn't a solution, but most women and men don't even have symptoms of a heart problem until it is too late. I know quite of few young people under the age of 35, who have had a heart attack or problems with a heart condition and wasn't aware of it.
there are other factors that make your heart rate go up fast. like anxiety and/or pain. did you worry so much that you didn't want to fail the stress test? were you experiencing any pain while doing the test? otherwise don't worry. your blood pressure is good, and so is your cholesterol (well it's a little high -- try to substitue lean white meat. it has less saturated fat).
many times people were weirded out when they take my blood pressure because it is low (like 118/78) but my heart rate is like 150! it's because whenever they pump the cuff (especially if it's too fast) it hurts my arm and that makes my heart rate go up. it's very funny because i can actually feel it go up from around 80 to 150 in like 5 seconds because of the pain.
Talk with your own cardiologist. You may have microvascular disease, with normal epicardial coronary arteries on the cath, but syndrome X. Or you may be deconditioned. Or this may be a false positive stress test. More details of your history are needed to make any determination.
