can std cause infected rashes along with swellin?

Question: my x-husband got very ill for last month, i took the kids to visit him, he was very ill lookin, on top both his feet were large raw infected places that looked like sores, they looked very nasty, on top that his feet and ankles were very swollen, and painful, i was very scared to let the kids get to close , he said that doctor said it was some sorta fungus? but he said that doctor just gave some sorta medication for it, he acted like doctor did not know what it was either so i stayed back, so my questions is can that possibly be related to std?? are some other sorta sexually transmitted deseases?

STD's, such as syphillis, can cause those symptoms... but it's more likely that it was in fact a fungus.
