What does a poistive EIA, negative western blot test and negative Nat test mean for hiv?

Question:

Answers:
EIA is a screening test for HIV infection.Westernblot test is a confimatory test for HIV.Nat is Nucleic acid test useful for screening for HIV in blood donors, more specific than EIA.Your report means Person is not carrying HIV.Probably the report is false positive for the EIA.
EIA stands for Enzyme linked immuno assay. In lamens terms it means that the test showed that some HIV antibody did attach itself to an enzyme which has an affinity for such an antibody, in a given period of reaction time. It means that there is antibody present, however, it depends upons the amount, and whether or not the timeline of the assay was consistant and was it within the background noise of the testing instrument (scintillation counting?/luminoflourescents?)

If these of ther tests were negative, I would repeat the other. That type of data conflict is common, yet unsettling, I'm sure. Good luck!
