Answers:
I to take 160 mg. of oxycontin. The withdrawals are really bad my dear. If you take them as perscribed you will not run ouy therefore no withdrawals> Believe or not some Dr. do know what they are talking about. When they perscribe a certain amount they so so for a reason. So you don't run out before your time , hence you don't have to suffer withdrawals. If you want there are many groups out there that will listen and support your willing to try and get clean. The withdrawals from oxy's is very like the ones from herion as they are both opiates. You can tough it out and when the w.d.s are over then step 2 needs to be put into action. Staying clean. This is the hard part. The really hard part. Everytime you think you want to use look back at how you felt when you ran out and the pucking, cramping, cold sweats, shitty feeling you had to go through before you felt like maybe you were going to live again. Is it worth it? Its all up to you kiddo. Willpower, willpower, willpower. There are alot of energy drinks and supplements out there. I've tried alot and this one called Zip Fiz is by far the best. It's full of all the B complexes, the least amount of sugar and carbs. It kicks me in the pants and gets me going. The future will be alot brighter clearer and most likely happier for you and hopefully your husband and family. Now is the time you need your husbands and familys support. I know from experience that alienating your family is one of the easiest things to do when your doing drugs. It's one of the worst things to do when you're tring to recover. There support is very crutial in recovery. I sure hope if you are serious about recovery and now that you've come clean to your husband he stands by you with love and support, you will really need it now. I've been clean now going on 7 years from a major drug addiction. Alot of different drugs. It gets easier with time. I've been to the point now for several years that it's not even a problem I think about anymore. Well good luck. If you believe in the big guy upstairs.... now would be a good time to pray.

You should tell your family and check your self into rehab as soon as possible!
Ive been here and it aint gonna be easy. You will detox for a while. This is gonna suck let me tell you. Tell your doc when you do see them that your nerves are shot because your body was addicted to it. Explain all of the stuff you put on here to your doc. I promise they will help. OH, and by the way, DONT LET THEM PUT YOU IN "REHAB"!!!!!! It will only make it worse. Tell them you are not frickin crazy, you just need help. If they put you in rehab, all they are gonna do is prescribe you more addicting drugs that one day you wont really want. Tell them you have a family to take care of for goodness sakes!
If you are looking for another drug that is going to get you off oxycontin, forget it .No such thing, even if there was you'd be tradeing one for the other, It's call addiction transfer. It will probably take a while but you will hopefully figure out that YOU are the problem.

Hang in there...
I had a pt with an oxycontin addiction. It was accidental. She had a condition which is very painful and the pain medication was needed. When the illness was over and we started weaning the oxycontin, she had withdrawl symptoms. She was treated by reducing the dose gradually over about 3 or 4 months until she was weaned, but she still had issues with it. She would cry and scratch and carry on whaling out in pain. We believed she needed grief counseling because she lost her grandmother and was away from home while she was very sick. No family support.
Not only do you have to get off the drugs, but you have to look deep inside yourself to see what else you need to do to clean up your life. People become physically addicted to pain meds often. You must 1st admit you have a problem and be very open about it. Quit whining. and get control of your life.
Talk to the MD who has been prescribing this and you might be able to succeed at Intensive Out Patient. I have a friend who just died of an overdose because of the same addiction; only she lived 8 horrible months in a nursing home (age 34) after the overdose. Your husband is obvious ignorant of the fact that drug addiction is a disease. Good luck. You can beat this thing, one day at a time. If you can't get in to your MD or a treatment program right away, go to Narcotics Anonymous and talk to the women there. Pray alot. Good luck and God Bless.
